I remember mixing this song after recording some subtle but significant overdubs including the groovy live bass part by producer Edwin "Tony" Nicolas (Gerald Levert, Soraya, Barry White). It was at Battery Studios in Manhattan, my favorite mix studio at the time. The founder and head of Jive records, Clive Calder came in and really motivated us to make the song special. He actually came up with muting the tracks to create the breakdown section after the 2nd chorus.

I believe Tony and I overdubbed and mixed 3 songs, two of which were on Joe's All That I Am album released in 1997. "I Wanna Know" was held back and released as a single in November of 1999 for his 2000 album My Name Is Joe. I recorded Joe's vocals for one song and man could he sing. He brought in his own Telefunken tube mic which sounded amazing. It's no wonder he was nominated in the Best Male R&B Vocal Performance category. My Name Is Joe is now triple platinum!

Billboard- The single was a huge hit across the U.S. reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 on July 1, 2000 and number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. "I Wanna Know" topped the Billboard year-end charts for Top R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks Airplay in 2000.  Additionally "I Wanna Know" was ranked fourth on Billboard Hot 100's Year-End Charts making it one of Joe's highest finishes on the year end charts.
